THE
TREATMENT
A safe, fast and effective treatment using the tip of the finest,
smallest probe is introduced along the line of the blemish and
a tiny energy current (Short Wave Diathermy) is discharged.
The current heats up and coagulates the tiny capillaries, its
contents dispersed and destroyed by the heat and reabsorbed
by the body.
DOES
IT HURT?
The treatment itself can be a little uncomfortable but easily
tolerated. Some clients report a slight burning sensation which
lasts for just a few seconds.
AFTER
EFFECTS
The area will be a little red, warm and puffy and feel irritated
for a few hours after the treatment. Tiny honey coloured crusts/scabs
may form on the skins surface after 2 days which fall off after
approximately 5 days and may leave a pink patch of skin which
fades.
HOW
MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Treatment time and the number of appointments required is dependant
upon varying factors such as the skin’s condition and
size of the area involved. After some initial redness you will
observe some improvement straight away. Over a period of weeks
the thread veins will gradually fade, depending on their severity.
The greater the area, the more treatments are necessary. This
is discussed during the initial consultation.
WILL
THEY COME BACK?
Once capillaries have been successfully treated, it should not
return. However it is important to realise that should your
skin be prone to the formation of capillaries, others may appear
in time.
AFTERCARE
Healing can take up to 6 weeks, and scabbing is a normal part
of the process. The area may remain red and slightly swollen
for several hours.
These
instructions are designed to promote healing, to avoid irritation
and to reduce the risk of infection.
They should be followed until healing is complete.
• |
If
possible, rest after treatment without stimulation for
30 minutes. |
• |
Avoid
touching the area and keep it as dry as possible. |
• |
Avoid
make-up and moisturisers until the scabs start to form. |
• |
Wash
the area with lukewarm water only for the next 24 hours
and pat dry. Apply Sterex Gel after each wash for 2 weeks. |
• |
Avoid
abrasion of any kind e.g. rough clothes, towels etc. |
• |
Do not exfoliate the area until it is totally healed and
the scabs have disappeared. |
• |
No sunbathing or sunbeds. To expose the treated area to
sun may result in pigmentation. |
• |
No
swimming for up to one month (or until the area is totally
healed) as the strong chemicals may irritate the area. |
• |
No
impact/vigorous sporting activity for up to one month
or until the area is totally healed. |
• |
No
hot baths, showers, saunas, steam or other heat treatment
of any kind until the area is totally healed. |
It
is very important that you do not attempt to lift the scabs
prematurely-this increases the risk of scarring, pitting or
unsuccessful treatment. |
